[Update #5] M16A2

M16A2 update is here again.

I've been busy these days, rear sight supposedly done right now. Since the blog a little bit 'not active' I decided to make a small update of this homemade paper rifle. These is what has done so far.

Yeah, I added gas tube to make it more realistic. The concept is still the same, it is 100% made out of hardened paper and painted with metallic silver paint which I bought from hobby shop last time.

Showing off the parts, you can see how the barrel looks like.

Handguards and barrel.

Updates

  • Added front sight
  • Finished Barrel
  • Added handguard, outer layer (the strips thing) not done.
  • Finished gas tube and heat shield.
  • Joined barrel parts and upper receiver together.

That is all for today, I'm currently working rear sight for this rifle because gun with only front sight sucks. =D

Oh wait, it's not M16a2 lol.

[Update #4] M16A2

New on M16A2

The latest update of M16A2 is here again and more 'stuffs' is completed.

Updates
  • Painted bolt carrier with silver colour.
  • Barrel is done with hardened paper.
  • Painted barrel with black.
  • Finished bolt catch and its operation.
  • Added stock.
  • Some stuffs on the body as shown in the pictures below.

Parts takedown.

Incomplete hand guard, just for show.

I will make a gas tube and heat shield for the barrel to make it more realistic. Dust cover and forward assist will be added once the barrel is complete.

[Update #3] M16A2

Here is the latest update of M16A2.

Sorry for the late update, anyway here are some update of M16A2 rifle.

Lower receiver is almost done except bolt catch and trigger guard. Receiver extension has built to hold the recoil spring (as shown in the picture).

Here are some failed bolt carriers I made earlier including the old Barrett M486 bolt. First and second version are all failed. The second one has improved but still unsuitable for use in this rifle.

Third version of bolt carrier that doesn't fail.

Bolt carrier is pure paper, it is hardened with PVA glue and shaped like the real both carrier. There is no gas tube, I might make a fake extractor and firing pin if possible and paint it to silver as well.

The 'real dude'

Also I've added a side bar for my M16 progress, you can view what has done if update post delayed.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Parody - Snake's Final Day

The best MGS parody.

I made some random searches in YouTube and I found this. A hilarious Metal Gear Solid 4 parody, check this out.

Sorry for not update this blog because I had a bit problem in M16A2 making. Majorities are upper receiver and the bolt carrier system, there are some minor scaling error which cause the bolt carrier doesn't fit inside the upper receiver. I've fixed these today, now I'm working on the stock which has a receiver extension tube in it together with recoil spring.

(Yes, in real gun we called recoil spring. My gun cannot fire, it will be no recoil so it's just a normal spring in it :D.)

That's all and I will try to finish the bolt carrier so I can make a new post with the updates.

"No one touches Solid Snake's solid ass!" :D

[Update #2] M16A2

Here is the latest update of M16A2.

The lower receiver is almost done. Here is how it looks like.

Pistol grip will join together with the lower receiver once it is done. Trigger mechanism and magazine are done and firing selector has completed about half, everything seems good.

The trigger mechanisms is made in simple way, materials are trigger, elastic spring, wooden stick and a cardboard piece. New trigger is made from cardboard and scale according to the full scale diagram, this is because the old plastic trigger is small and unsuitable to use in this mechanism.

A close look up of mechanisms in lower receiver. If you making a gun, probably this might help a little.

That's all for today, I'm trying to finish lower receiver asap so that I will start to make upper receiver which is the hardest work in this project. :)

[Update] M16A2

M16A2 update.

I'm going to make M16A2 because the upper receiver of Barrett M468 did not fit with the new lower receiver. With the help of full scale image of M4 Carbine it will be easy to avoid scaling error, this is why I'm making M16A2.

"Why not M4?". Because I feel long rifle are much cooler. :D

Here's an update of my lower receiver.

Pistol grip and unfinished lower receiver and magazine.

It took me a long time to make these because I need to glue a paper sheet as the outer layer for every single cardboard. Paper and PVA glue will make the cardboard harder, thanks for Tacome1942's tutorial video on how to make paper harder. He make cool paper weapons too, be sure check out his Youtube channel.

Magazine catch mechanism.

Magazine catch are made from hardened paper, wooden stick, cardboard and a spring. Slightly different with the real one.

Some M16A2 info.

M16A2 rifle, with the heavy barrel, modified rear sights, spent case deflector, round handguards and modified pistol handle (circa mid-1980s)

I will be really busy these days to finish lower receiver as soon as possible. I will update the progress if something new comes out. :)

Barrett M468 Planing

Planing of Barrett M468 part fixes, upgrades and M16 upper receiver

After coming back from National Service, I realized that I've stopped to continue to build my cardboard M468 more than 3-4 months. Beside, I also noticed some of mistakes on the gun. Here are the list of parts which I not satisfied.

List of 'Phailed' Parts
Lower Receiver

The real dude.

  1. Magazine well too narrow
  2. Pistol grip
  3. Trigger too small
  4. Fake bolt catch button
  5. Bad Scaling

The 'Fake n Gay'

The upper receiver looks good and has no problem.
I will remake the lower receiver soon. Once the lower receiver is completed, M16 upper receiver will be the next.

Stay tuned for update.

Barrett M468

After watched some homemade weapon video in youtube, I decided to start my own cardboard gun. I started this project few months ago, it still not done yet because of school works and keep delaying because of laziness.

Materials that I used are:
-Cardboard
-Springs
-Some plastic pieces from old toys
-Transparent plastic sheet

This gun is almost done, just some few parts still need to be completed such as flash hider, rail and cover everything with some paper and glue them together to make it harder. Here are the previews,

You can view my old preview here:

If you can see, most of the stuffs still not completed in the video compare to the pictures.
